Spinel Windows and Lenses - While the majority of transparent spinel applications are for the government, numerous commercial markets exist and TA&T's efforts extent to these areas as well. TA&T employs many traditional and innovative ceramic fabrication techniques to manufacture transparent spinel into windows, domes and lenses. Current capabilities allow for the manufacturing of windows up to 22" in diameter, domes up to full hemispheres of 10", and lenses up to 6" in diameter. Major facility and equipment enhancements are underway that will extend the size and quantity of future components in addition to lowering production costs.
