CERAMIC COMPOSITES, INC.A subsidiary of Technology Assessment & Transfer, Inc.
Structurally Enhanced Carbon Foam is produced by Ceramic Composites, by coating the individual ligaments of commercially available open celled foams with a polymeric ceramic precursor. CCI has demonstrated a 2x and greater increase in the compressive strength of commercial carbon foams from POCO Thermal Materials using this technique with only a 5 % reduction in thermal conductivity. CCI is also working with carbon foam materials from Touchstone Research Laboratories and Koppers for thermal and structural applications.
CCI is working with Marley Cooling Technologies and DOE's National Energy Research Laboratory to develop a power plant air cooled condenser heat exchanger. CCI is also under contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory to develop carbon foam thermal management components for the all -electric aircraft flight control actuation system.
