CERAMIC MICRO DEVICES GROUP
The Ceramic Micro Devices (CMD) Group is using innovative microfabrication technology to develop ceramic micro devices that provide superior performance. Product development areas include:
- Miniaturized high-efficiency heat exchangers for electronics cooling
- Microfluidic systems
- Multifunctional MEMS packaging
- Novel ceramic sensors
The CMD Group uses various ceramic microfabrication techniques to produce ceramic components that cannot be produced using conventional processing. One of the key processes used is Ceramic Stereolithography (CSL). CSL is an adaptation of the rapid prototyping / freeform fabrication process that is widely used to make plastic prototypes parts. TA&T's ceramic-based stereolithography materials allow fabrication of fully-functional ceramic devices using the stereolithography process. The laser-based, additive layer-by-layer build approach allows fine feature size (~100 microns) and virtually unlimited 3D geometry capability.
