Technology Assessment and Transfer, Inc. is a woman-owned, high technology corporation that develops and commercializes advanced materials for defense, bio-medical and industrial applications, primarily through government funded R&D. The transition into commercial products has been occurring through the establishment of wholly owned subsidiaries such as Ceramic Composites, Inc. in 1991, cooperative development programs with end-users, and technology licensing. TA&T and CCI's primary areas of interest are magnetron sputtered, multilayer thin films for superior wear, erosion and corrosion resistance, low-cost chemical vapor infiltration of fiber reinforced ceramic composites, toughened monolithic ceramics, strengthened carbon foams, stereolithographic ceramic and metal formulations for direct manufacturing of ceramic micro-devices and intelligent process control of advanced materials processes. In the last 6 years, TA&T has mounted a major effort in the development and production of transparent ceramic armor and optical components. TA&T also provides technology assessments and recommendations for government agencies in a host of advanced technologies.
Technology Assessment & Transfer, Inc. (TA&T) maintains 4,000 square feet of office space at 133 Defense Highway in Annapolis, Maryland. At this location, TA&T houses copiers, telefaxes and several computers for documentation, data acquisition and analysis. Full administrative and secretarial support is provided.
TA&T's R&D and prototype facility comprises 7,000 square feet in the I-97 Business Park at 1110 Benfield Boulevard in Millersville, Maryland. This facility is shared with Ceramic Composites Inc (CCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of TA&T. This facility houses a small machine shop, extensive materials processing equipment, and a materials characterization laboratory. An additional 9000 square foot facility (also in the 1-97 business park area) at 215 Najoles Road in Millersville, 21108 is being upgraded for production of high quality optical components. The facility includes a clean room, polishing laboratory and 30 ton, 250 ton and bottom hot presses as well as sintering furnaces.
